It is not possible to register a .tw domain name, but you can register a Second-Level-Domain of Taiwan: .org.tw, .idv.tw or .com.tw. Companies located in Taiwan, as well as corporations that have business-relations with Taiwan use these domains.
No special requirements, but the domain usage is limited. (The General Terms and Conditions can be found at: http://www.twnic.net.tw)
No special requirements
All letters (a-z) and numbers (0-9) are allowed; hyphens (-) are also allowed, however not at the beginning or at the end of the domain name. A domain name should be between 3 and 63 characters long.
.com.tw/.org.tw/.idv.tw domain names transfers to UniNames are possible. The transfer itself is free, but is considered as a new registration; therefore a 1-year fee will be charged (or more years on request).
Exactly 1 year after you have transferred your domain name, it will expire. Keep in mind that any remaining registration time at your former agent will be lost.
Please be aware of the fact that is only possible to transfer the domain name between Neulever Accredited Registrars only.
.com.tw/.org.tw/.idv.tw transfers can be requested by sending a transfer request through our website.
The current owner or admin contact will have to provide UniNames with a so-called authorisation code, which can be obtained through the current agent. The owner as well as the admin contact has the right to request this code. If this code is not provided the transfer will not be executed.
UniNames will send you a document that needs to be signed and returned back to UniNames. If not, the transfer will not be executed.
Please be sure that you provided UniNames with the correct authorisation code, which is unique for each domain. If this is not correct the domain transfer will fail.
Ensure that your domain does not have a lock status (REGISTRAR-LOCK or HOLD). If the domain is locked, then the owner should request his current registrar to unlock it.
The transfer should be initiated some time before the domain name expires. This to avoid that the transfer request is still being processed when the domain has passed its expiration date. If this happens the owner is responsible for the payment of possible fees that may be charged by the current registrar
Please ensure that the domain is older than 60 days. Otherwise the transfer request will be declined.
